⭐Top 5 Red Star Winery 2026
🏅99 Points – Morris Old Premium Rare Muscat
A celebration of the master fortified blender's brilliance in a wine which is as close to magical as you can get. Six generations of Morris winemakers have had a hand in the solera that brings this beauty to the glass. This is not a wine to hurry; take your time to embrace the scents and flavours rich and luscious in fig, raisin, plum pudding and sticky date pudding and nutty rancio laid out across a velvety texture. Complex? Goes without saying. 500ml. - Jeni Port
🏅98 Points – Morris Old Premium Rare Topaque
Crushed, partial fermentation, pressed, fortified with high strength neutral spirit, transferred to casks and barrels for years of maturation. Average age: 20 years. A rare offering of time, of the fortified maker's art and of the place where it is born: Rutherglen. This is a happy fortified place, where a luscious sweetness meets some of the most exquisite, complex flavours imaginable in treacle-doused dried fruits, honeyed fruitcake, Saunders' malt extract, panforte, sun-drenched golden raisins and a lasting nuttiness. It's rich and deeply flavoured, yes, but framed in clean spirit that freshens and excites the palate even more. Complex, long, unwavering. 500ml. - Jeni Port
🏅98 Points – Morris Old Premium Rare Tawny
Partial fermentation before pressing and fortification using a complex spirit, transferred to oak casks and barrels for slow maturation over decades. Fortified tawnies are slowly fading from the fortified scene, so thank goodness for Morris. This is a tradition worth getting into. Sweet earth, mahogany wood, treacle, toffee-drenched walnut, dried fruits and orange peel smother the palate in great concentrated flavours delivered across a creamy texture, never cloying, immense in character. The age of barrel-matured parcels, choice of spirt and the role of the blender combine to produce a brilliant wine. 500ml. - Jeni Port
🏅97 Points – Morris Cellar Reserve Grand Muscat
Deep amber-coloured, slow moving and complex grand muscat in the hands of David and Madden Morris is something to behold. Great concentration and elegance on show in malt, toffee, roasted nuts, chocolate, sticky date pudding and hints of delicate rose oil. Super complex, super harmonious, balanced artfully in fresh neutral spirit. 500ml. - Jeni Port
🏅97 Points – Morris Cellar Reserve Grand Topaque
One of life's guilty pleasures, such is the luscious sweetness, the deep flavours, the utter deliciousness of it all. Decades of vintages, time in oak, not to mention the blender's art, are on show here in dark chocolate panforte, rich dried fruits, golden raisins, malt extract and so much more. Moves like velvet across the tongue with terrific length and freshness. So impressive. 500ml. - Jeni Port
🏅96 Points – Morris Cellar Reserve Grand Tawny
Let's hear it for tawny fortifieds, increasingly a lost winemaking art in this country. It takes time to get this good, exploring a richness of complex nutty rancio intensity, dried fruits and figs, toffee, orange peel, raisins, spices. It's comforting but, more than that, it's hedonistic. 500ml. - Jeni Port
🏅95 Points – Morris Classic Muscat
Staggeringly good value from one of Australia's great fortified producers. Consider the deep amber hues, the impressive complex aromas in rancio grilled nuts, dried figs, honey-drenched panforte, some Turkish delight notes and warm spices. Exploring the layers will take time but just enjoy that smooth, glossy, dry finish. Superb. 500ml. - Jeni Port
