Morris of Rutherglen
Morris Aged Amber Apera 500mL
TASTING NOTES
With over 165 years of history and winemaking tradition, the Morris family of Rutherglen have earned the esteemed position as one of the most prominent wine-making families in Australia. When founder George Morris first planted vines near Rutherglen, in North-East Victoria, he established an enduring family legacy. Under the guidance of Madden Morris, sixth generation and current Chief Winemaker, the Morris range of fortified and table wines continue to be masterfully crafted with the same skill and passion that has been our hallmark since 1859.
A rich and complex aged full flor fino fortified wine, with an average blended age of approx. 20 years, crafted predominantly from the Palomino grape. Extracted from flor yeast and matured in barrels for many years to develop fullness and nutty characters. Enjoy as an aperitif alongside aged cheeses, or complementing spiced dishes.
This wine style is crafted predominantly from the Palomino grape. The grapes are harvested at approximately 11° Baume, then crushed and allowed to ferment out to dryness. The base wine is then fortified to approximately 16.0 % alcohol and transferred into casks 75% full. A flor yeast is inoculated onto the surface of the wine and allowed to grow, which creates a film on the wine, protecting it from air. The wine is then extracted from the flor yeast and placed into barrels for many years to develop fullness and the desired ‘rancio’ and nutty characters.
COLOUR: Amber in colour with fresh highlights.
AROMA: Lifted toasted notes and flor characteristics.
PALATE: Rich and nutty characteristics are woven into an aged textured framework that is matched by elevated spirit characters and a long dry finish.
ABV: 22.0%
